IYA 2009 Paris Launch (Live Webcast)

Welcome back!

The International Year Of Astronomy is being officially launched in Paris, as I write.

The two-day Opening Ceremony is taking place at UNESCO on 15-16 January and includes a programme of lectures by eminent speakers.

You can watch a live webcast right now.

Hopefully, a recording will be available to replay, after the launch event has finished.

After months of anticipation, I hope it will deliver the promised kick-start to the appreciation of astronomy, by the wider public. 

 

To celebrate the first clear night (for me) of 2009, I thought I should do a first thing, too.

So I attached my newly purchased Canon 1000D digital SLR camera, to my Skywatcher refractor.
